Every once in a while, and sometimes even longer, the rules of nature will bend. So it was with the legend of Boston's famous harbor seal, Hoover. This illustrated children's book is based upon the true story of an orphaned seal pup who learns to speak through his adopted human parents. Raised in Cundy's Harbor Maine, by George and Alice Swallow, Hoover was able to mimic the sounds of human speech, including a strong Maine accent. Eventually, the Swallows decided that Hoover needed to live at the New England Aquarium, where he became one of the most famous residents of Boston, Massachusetts.
